Short version: the calculators run on your device and we never see what you type into them.

The short version

Everything you enter into a calculator is processed in your own browser and is never transmitted to us or stored anywhere. We do not ask you to create an account. We use privacy-respecting analytics to count visits, and advertising may set cookies. You can opt out of both.

Who we are

What we do not collect

This is the important part, so it comes first.

• Calculator inputs. Every measurement, dimension, pitch and cost figure you type is handled entirely by JavaScript running on your device. None of it is sent to a server, logged, or stored. If you disconnect from the internet after a tool page loads, the tool keeps working, which is the clearest proof of this.
• Sensor readings. The pitch gauge reads your device’s orientation to display an angle. That reading exists only in the page while you are looking at it, and is discarded the moment you navigate away.
• Accounts. There is no registration, no login and no user profile.
• Payment details. We sell nothing, so we never handle card data.

What we do collect

Server logs

Like nearly every website, our host records standard technical information when a page is requested: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, the page requested, the referring page and a timestamp. These logs are used to keep the site running and secure, and to diagnose faults. They are retained for a short period and then deleted.

Analytics

We use analytics to understand which tools people use and where the site is slow or broken. This tells us things like the rafter calculator was opened 400 times this week. It does not tell us what anyone entered into it. Where our analytics provider supports it, IP addresses are anonymised before storage.

Advertising

The site may display advertising to cover its running costs. Advertising partners, including Google and its partner network, may use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

Some pages may link to products such as speed squares, angle finders or levels. Where those links are affiliate links, we may earn a commission if you buy, at no extra cost to you. The merchant, not us, handles anything you do on their site. See our disclaimer for more.

Cookies

A cookie is a small text file a site stores in your browser. We use them only for the purposes above: analytics and, where shown, advertising. We set no cookie that identifies you personally and none that stores your calculator inputs.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time. The calculators will continue to work normally if you do, because they do not depend on cookies.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Under the UK and EU GDPR these rights apply to residents of those regions; under the CCPA, California residents have comparable rights, including the right to know what is collected and to opt out of its sale. We do not sell personal data to anyone.

Because we hold almost no personal data, most requests can be answered quickly. Write to collaborationdesk@gmail.com and we will respond within the period your law requires, normally 30 days.

Children

This site is intended for a general and professional audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Data transfers and security

Our host and analytics and advertising providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. We use reputable providers and the site is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but since the site holds no accounts and no calculator data, the amount at risk is minimal.

Third-party sites

Where we link out to codes, standards, manufacturers or merchants, those sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices and encourage you to read them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of the page. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the revised policy.
